For most of the past four years, the corner of Lancaster and Merion sat in a slow churn. Enoteca Tredici drew a crowd, closed in 2021, and was followed by two Italian concepts that never quite found their footing. If you live here, you've watched the storefronts turn over from the sidewalk.
The summer of 2026 is the first in a while where the churn resolves into something you can plan a Friday around. Four new food businesses have landed within a short walk of the Bryn Mawr Gazebo, a fifth is coming to the address that has defied every prior tenant, and the concert calendar at the Gazebo is stacked from late June into September. This is a guide for the people who already live here.
The 915 Lancaster Problem, Solved
The address to watch is 915 Lancaster Avenue, inside Bryn Mawr Village. It opened in 2022 as Fiore Rosso, tied to Marc Vetri, was rebranded Il Fiore in 2024, and closed at the start of 2026. Three restaurants in four years is a lot of turnover in a space with a working kitchen and good bones.
Main Line restaurateur Alessandro "Alex" Fiorello is preparing to open a new, bar-forward concept at Bryn Mawr Village, 915 Lancaster Ave. Fiorello, 28, already runs Alessandro's Wood Fired Italian in Wayne and a pizzeria in West Chester. He is considering names including Enoteca Alessandro's or Alessandro's Enoteca, a nod to the wine-bar identity that made Enoteca Tredici a hit at this same address in 2017.
Two details from the reporting matter for how the space will actually function this summer:
- The new kitchen will feature dry-aged proteins, using on-site aging refrigerators inherited with the space, and may incorporate subtle Japanese influences, including a small number of sushi-style items.
- The newest Alessandro's could open as early as April.
The interpretation for anyone who lives within walking distance: this is the first tenant at 915 designed around the bar rather than the dining room. The prior two concepts leaned formal and priced themselves out of a weekly habit. Fiorello has said the Bryn Mawr spot is "a step up from Wayne. Still approachable but more bar-focused, with a great bar scene." If the target is a Wednesday-night drink after work rather than a Saturday reservation, the room could finally stick.
The Rest of the Block
The Alessandro's news does not sit alone. Bryn Mawr's Lancaster Avenue corridor has picked up four other food businesses that are either open or expected before Labor Day, and this is what changes the practical geography of downtown.
Love & Honey Fried Chicken. The newly opened Love & Honey outpost in Bryn Mawr is the suburban counterpart to its Northern Liberties location, with buttermilk-fried chicken that is brined and hand-breaded, plus tenders, sandwiches, homemade sides, desserts and sauces. This one is already on the block and running.
Flakely. Once operated out of an industrial kitchen in Manayunk, gluten-free gem Flakely is getting its own storefront on bustling Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr. The move from a wholesale kitchen to a walk-in bakery is the meaningful shift. What was a special-order pickup becomes a Saturday-morning stop.
Dim Sum Factory. The latest location of local chain Dim Sum Factory is expected to open this winter in Bryn Mawr, with soup dumplings, fried buns, shumai, scallion pancakes and other Asian delicacies. It will not be a summer opening, but it slots into the same walkable cluster.
Buttery Bryn Mawr. A project of Malvern Buttery, this cafe and bakery is set to open in Bryn Mawr in early 2026. For anyone who has driven out to Malvern for a morning pastry, the point is obvious.
Five arrivals inside one downtown, all within a walk of each other, is not a coincidence of the calendar. It is a concentration. The owner of Bryn Mawr Village, Paul Aschkenasy, told Savvy Main Line about the Alessandro's deal that he wanted "a restaurant that appeals to so many of our neighbors, has a lively bar scene, and is priced such that people can visit on a regular basis." The tell is the phrase "on a regular basis." Downtown Bryn Mawr is being repositioned as a weekly rhythm, not a special-occasion destination.
The Gazebo Is the Other Half of the Evening
Nine blocks south of the Bryn Mawr Village entrance sits the Bryn Mawr Gazebo, at 9 South Bryn Mawr Avenue. It is small and easy to miss if you have not been to a show there. This summer's Twilight Concert Series is the reason to know it.
The Bryn Mawr Twilight Concerts Series is hosted at the community gazebo in downtown Bryn Mawr, in a cozy lawn and BYO chair atmosphere, with both ticketed and free events on select days and beverages for purchase. All shows are presented and produced by Rising Sun Presents, the team behind Ardmore Music Hall and 118 North in Wayne. The parking note worth internalizing if you live nearby: free parking after 6 PM for metered spots, and free all day in some lots, including the Library and Gazebo Park lot.

For the Trout Fishing in America show on July 19, kids 2 to 12 must have a paid kids ticket, while kids 1 and younger are free. The rest of the ticketed schedule generally treats children 12 and younger as free.
The practical read: a Gazebo show starts at seven, dinner up at 915 Lancaster runs on Bryn Mawr time, and a walk between the two is under ten minutes. You are not driving twice on the same evening.
When the Weather Turns
The reliable indoor answer is a block west of the Gazebo. The Bryn Mawr Film Institute at 824 West Lancaster Avenue is running a full summer calendar that leans harder into repertory than most suburban theaters would attempt. A partial list of what is on the schedule:

The 70mm run is the outlier. Very few screens on the Main Line can project the format at all, and it is not a listing that will appear on the chain marquees in King of Prussia. If you have a teenager who has decided film is a real interest, this is the summer to point them at 824 West Lancaster.
What This Adds Up To
The story of a summer in a small downtown is usually told through a single opening. This summer's story in Bryn Mawr is told through five, and through a concert series that has quietly grown into a real venue under Rising Sun's production. The two threads share a geography. From the Gazebo lawn to the front door of Love & Honey to the entrance at 915 Lancaster, you can build an entire Friday evening inside a quarter-mile radius.
